Avocado is one of the health fruits rich in Omega 3, vitamin A and B, with antioxidant properties, and full of fiber. It provides our diet with vegetable proteins and contains all 8 essential amino acids that our body does not produce but needs. Ideal for eating in a mixed salad or on croutons. The Hass variety avocado is one of the most appreciated varieties of this fruit, it is distinguished by its rough skin and dark color when ripe.

How we make them

Our Hass avocados are grown in Calabria using organic production methods that respect the environment, the laws of nature and biodiversity. This is a new type of cultivation here in Calabria, where, after having planted some plants in an experimental phase, a real “avocado grove” was created. The unique microclimate in this area of Calabria allows the production of avocado fruits with excellent organoleptic qualities.

Conservation

If kept in a cool environment, avocados ripen very slowly. To make them ripen quickly, it is advisable to store them in a paper bag. We also invite you to read our guide to recognizing when an avocado is ripe .

Hass Avocado: Characteristics

The Hass variety is currently the most marketed worldwide thanks to its organoleptic and qualitative characteristics. This fruit, belonging to the Guatemalan breed (although it has some genes from the Mexican breed), was selected in 1920 in California and is now grown in subtropical and tropical areas. The Hass avocado is rich in "good" fats and has numerous nutritional properties . The fruit has a spherical or pear-shaped shape, with a weight that can vary between 100 and 300 grams. The color of the skin, which is wrinkled to the touch, changes from dark green to a brown/black color when it reaches maturity and the fruit takes on a softer consistency.
