BERGAMOT JAM: RECIPES AND USES
Among the many recipes that can be prepared with bergamot, there is one that we absolutely cannot leave out: it is bergamot jam, to be prepared together with another fruit (such as pears), bitter or following the traditional recipe. A good homemade jam can be an excellent ingredient in the preparation of tarts and cakes, or it can be consumed in the morning on a slice of toasted bread and, why not, also accompany cheeses in a tasty appetizer. Now that we know how to use it, all that remains is to understand how to prepare it: let's see which are the tastiest recipes, but also the easiest and quickest ones!
BERGAMOT JAM: HOW TO PREPARE IT WITH THE BIMBY
If you have little time or you are not very familiar with cooking, you can prepare bergamot jam with the Bimby. Here's how to do it!
Ingredients
- 1 kg of organic bergamots
- 800 g. of sugar
Preparation
Peel the bergamots, place them in the jug and blend for 15 seconds at speed 5.
Add the sugar and cook for 60 minutes at 100°, speed 2.
The jam is ready! Pour it hot into sterilized jars and store in a cool, dry place.
BERGAMOT AND PEAR JAM: RECIPE

Ingredients
- 2 kg of untreated bergamots
- 2 kg of pears
- 1.5 kg of sugar
- 500 g of brown sugar
- water to taste
Preparation:
Wash the bergamots well and peel them.
Wash the pears well and peel them.
Cut the fruit into pieces and put everything in a pan, adding the sugar.
Cook for about 2 hours and stir slowly from time to time.
To obtain a smoother jam, remove from the heat and blend with the immersion blender. Put back on the heat for another 30 minutes.
Place the jam in previously sterilized jars and close hermetically.
BITTER BERGAMOT JAM: HOW TO PREPARE IT.
If you like more sour and bitter flavors, then you can prepare a bitter bergamot jam, using a reduced amount of sugar. Let's see the recipe right away.
Ingredients
- 1.5 kg of untreated bergamots
- 1 lemon
- 800 g. of sugar
- 1 tablespoon Cointreau
Preparation
Wash the bergamots and lemon well. Peel the citrus fruits trying to avoid the white part and keep the peels.
Peel the bergamots and in the meantime place the peels in a saucepan full of water, boil for 5 minutes and drain.
Cut the bergamots into small pieces and place them in a pan with the sugar and lemon juice.
Cook over low heat and after about an hour add the Cointreau.
Leave on the heat for about half an hour and, when the jam is thick enough, put it into sterilized jars and close hermetically.
