BERGAMOT OIL: HOW TO USE IT.

Bergamot essential oil is obtained by cold pressing the peel of this citrus fruit with a thousand properties : long used in folk medicine to treat inflammation, infections and gastrointestinal disorders, bergamot oil is also used in aromatherapy to relieve anxiety and depression, and in the cosmetics field, as a perfumed essence. The essence obtained from bergamot peel contains limonene, an antiseptic and tonic substance, and linalyl acetate, with antiviral properties .

BERGAMOT ESSENTIAL OIL: INTERNAL USE.

Being antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory, bergamot oil can be used in case of intestinal infections and colic, fights flatulence and stimulates digestion: 1 to 6 drops diluted in water are enough. To treat uro-genital infections, 8 drops diluted in 300 ml of distilled water are needed, then using the mixture as an intimate wash. As a disinfectant, bergamot oil can be applied for oral cavity conditions, such as gingivitis, stomatitis, abscesses and to reduce bad breath: 4 drops dissolved in a glass of water are enough to rinse or gargle.
Furthermore, bergamot essential oil has a strong balsamic power: 8 drops diluted in a pot of boiling water, to be inhaled by covering the head with a towel, are indicated for respiratory tract infections.

BERGAMOT ESSENTIAL OIL: AROMATHERAPY.

Bergamot oil is also used in aromatherapy , as it has relaxing and antidepressant properties, improves mood and sleep, fights nervousness, stress and anxiety. Here's what you need to do to make the most of these benefits:

• mix 50 ml of almond oil and 6 drops of essential oil; use the mixture to massage the temples, nape of the neck and forehead twice a day
• pour 10 drops of oil into an essence diffuser or radiator humidifier and perfume the room

BERGAMOT OIL FOR SKIN CARE: ALL USES AND CONTRAINDICATIONS.

Given its antiseptic properties, bergamot oil is very useful for treating skin infections. For example, to purify oily and acne-prone skin, it can be used in the following ways:

• adding three drops of essential oil to your toner or moisturizer
• diluting 5 drops in boiling water and holding your face over the steam for 10-15 minutes.

Then remove impurities with gauze and finish with a clay mask.
Bergamot oil can also be used in cases of dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis, adding 2 or 3 drops to a neutral cream and massaging the affected areas.
However, you have to be very careful: in the past, bergamot drops were also used for tanning, but later it was discovered that they make the skin photosensitive, so there is a high risk of burning. So if you apply bergamot essence on your skin, try not to expose yourself to the sun's rays.
