Avocado is a fruit with countless beneficial properties : it is rich in "good" fats, fiber, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, it fights cholesterol and keeps the heart healthy. It is a very caloric fruit, however we must dispel a myth: avocado does not make you fat and, if eaten in the right quantities, it is very suitable for those who are following a diet. As we anticipated at the beginning, there are many properties of this fruit : avocado is rich in fiber, B vitamins, potassium, vitamin K, vitamin C, vitamin E, lutein and zeaxanthin, folic acid. In 100 grams of avocado there are 160 calories, but thanks to the countless beneficial properties this fruit is useful for reducing cardiovascular risk and increases fertility. It is in fact rich in monounsaturated fats (the good ones), which help keep the heart healthy, reduce bad cholesterol and since they increase the sense of satiety they also help you lose weight. The folic acid present in this fruit is very useful during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as it helps the development of tissues and new cells. Vitamins C and E, polyphenols, flavonoids, zinc and selenium have an anti-inflammatory action, thus protecting our body from the action of free radicals and preventing the onset of arthritis. Lutein and zeaxanthin protect the eyes from cataracts and macular degeneration. Avocado is also particularly beneficial for the skin and hair, as it nourishes and protects against aging and dryness.


AVOCADO: CONTRAINDICATIONS

Allergy to avocado is very rare, however individuals who are allergic to latex may show intolerance to this fruit. Furthermore, being very rich in potassium, avocado is not recommended for those who suffer from kidney failure. Finally, since it is a particularly caloric fruit, it should be consumed in moderate quantities.
